Albert Mangelsdorff
German trombonist, bandleader and music director, Albert Mangelsdorff sat playing the trombone backstage at Newport Jazz Festival, Rhode Island, 1958. Mangelsdorff was one of the most innovative trombonists of modern jazz, becoming famous for his distinctive technique when playing.
